Dr. Eric Yager is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Program Director of the Pre-Pharmacy Program at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He received his Doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University at Albany. As a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Marcia Blackman at the Trudeau Institute he investigated the impacts of aging on the cellular response to influenza. Following, as a Research Associate in the lab of Dr. Deborah Fuller at the Albany Medical College he was involved in an academia-industry cooperative research program to develop a DNA-based universal vaccine against influenza. His current research is focused on identifying novel drug targets to treat enveloped human RNA viruses. He also instructs courses on Genetics, Virology, Immunology, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, and Flow Cytometry. He is passionate about educating individuals on viruses and pandemics, as demonstrated by his several recent guest spots on talk radio to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and his public seminars on the 1918 flu pandemic.
