BH-BL School District 2019-2020 Budget

           Dr. Patrick McGrath and Maryellen Symer gave a great informational presentation on the upcoming BH/BL School budgetOn May 21st, BH/BL School District residents will go to the polls to vote on a proposed $69.55 million budget for the 2019-20 school – year.  The proposal carries a 2.90 percent tax levy increase and results in an estimated 1.95 percent tax rate increase.   Polls will be open from 7am to 9pm at the BH/BL High School. The proposed budget preserves all current academic programs and supports the district’s commitment to improve instructional technology districtwide and create 21stcentury learning spaces.  Additional revenue is generated by continued expansion of the distance learning program, the costs of which the state reimburses. broadening the district’s food service department through Spartan Catering and opening a Spartan Café.
            Other highlights of the budget are: expanded math intervention services K-2, addition of Grade 2 keyboarding instruction, Mandarin Chinese offered in Grade 7, upgraded safety and security, upgrades to 21stCentury classrooms, and technology/lighting upgrades and savings.
           Voters will also be asked to elect two candidates to the Board of Education as well as consider continuing the district’s practice of including an ex officio student member on the board.
 
In addition Bob Youmans was honored in a presentation of in Paul Harris +7 award.
