WHEN: Tuesday, August 19 th , 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
WHERE: Ballston Town Hall, Charlton Road, 323 Charlton Road, Ballston Spa, NY
WHAT: Every community is at risk for a mass shooter event and many adults, who have not had the benefit of attending a school shooting drill, are not prepared. Two local Rotary clubs, Ballston Spa and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, are hosting a community workshop and discussion on how to recognize a potential threat and what to do in the event you are in an active shooter situation. Presented by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, it will include an introduction to unexpected, targeted violence; how to recognize a threatening situation; progression of the problem; prevention, and reaction to emergency situations.
"Every moment counts in an active shooter event and the grim reality is that police can’t be everywhere at once,” said Saratoga County Undersheriff Jeff Brown. “CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Education) training gives civilians a simple framework to use to survive one of the most chaotic and traumatic events anyone could ever experience. It literally gives people a chance to live."
